BLK Mamas Collective Logo
The BLK Mamas Collective is a powerful alliance that brings together Black birth-centered organizations, Black birthing individuals, and Black birth workers and organizers. This collective works collaboratively to address the various needs of the Black birthing community, focusing on healing, education, autonomy in childbirth, and the pursuit of liberation and equitable care for Black birthing people. By pooling resources, knowledge, and experiences, the BLK Mamas Collective aims to create a supportive network that empowers and uplifts Black birthing individuals, while challenging systemic disparities and advocating for transformative change within the birthing system.
Logo redesign
ConceptShell reimagined a logo design for BLK Mamas Collective that elevates the current brand while showing the humanity and roots in the community. It has a hybrid gothic and modern style to appeal to a broad audience, including the mama down the street, Department of Health officials, and people working directly with families in the community.
Symbolism
Warm colors and comforting mother-and-child graphics make up the logo design. We used rounded-edge lines with bold yet playful typography to signify the importance of the collective and its community. The hoop earring is a strong symbol for African American identity and history, denoting spirituality, pride, protection, culture, and heritage. Rays of light represent the grace and trust between mother and child, with a nod to the modern Black Madonna.
